Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I honestly believe that to grow as a writer, you have to be able to give out critique and handle it maturely when it is given to you. Constructive criticism is the best kind of feedback to get so that's what I aim for when I beta. In many of the reviews I've left behind, I've tried to give out constructive criticism and praise as well. Because a little bit of both helps all of us in the long run. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are pretty much the technical aspects of writing, such as grammar, punctuation, sentence structure etc. That's what I look for mostly so it's easier for readers to breeze through chapters. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses are plot. Not in the sense that I can't pull together a decent plot and write it. It's more of that I'll comment on the plot and ask questions about the characters and settings and the direction, but I won't force you to change it. Mainly because a plot that you don't like, you won't end up writing it. So it's better to guide you through your plot and look at the holes instead of telling you what you need to change. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I do prefer mysteries, thrillers, comedies and romance. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Poetry, essays, sci-fi, biographies. I really have to refuse to beta fantasy and horror because I wouldn't really know how to comment on characters and plot. Also I do prefer heterosexual pairings and no super stereotypical characters. Thanks! |
