Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm not pretending to be some highly trained English Major with half a dozen Uni degrees and a Masters in English Lit, but I do read like I breathe air; day in and day out. I like to think I'm fairly easy going, in other words I won't insult your characters, plot, or ideas, and certainly not you. But that doesn't mean I'm I push-over either, and I won't be uber nice just because you can't take honesty. I'll be straight forward with you, and hopefully you will be able to produce your best work possible. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
As far as strengths go, I work best with character development. If you're trying to create realistic characters for the situation you've placed them in, I'm the one to go to. Dialogue as well, I'm fairly apt with that. It's all about making character interaction seem normal, not forced. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Weaknesses? Probably grammar. I always think the last thing a person should worry about when they're writing is grammar and spelling. Yes, they are essential, but you dont want to stop every five minutes in the middle of a craze to edit that. Usually when it comes to betareading I won't focus as much on that, although I willnote a blaring in-your-face sort of mistake. (there vs their vs they're anyone?) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love action adventure things. Things blowing up, gun fights, yeah, the whole she-bang. I can appreciate a good gorey scene as much as the next person, probably even more. Bring it on! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Fantasy. It's not that I don't like fantasy books, I do. But I feel there's something very sacred about a world created entirely from your imagination (including languages, places, historty ect) Although I could probably pick it apart, I dont know if I could give you what you were looking for as far as critique goes. |
