Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I try not to judge TOO harshly. My goal is to help improve the writer. I am here to help YOU. Please expect constructive criticism. I do not believe in sporking or flaming. If I have a problem with something in your story or poem, I will explain to you what it is and make suggestions. I understand the time and effort that you pour into your work. I am a writer myself. But at the same time, PLEASE respect the fact that I am also taking the time and effort to painstakingly proofread your work. Please come to me with an open mind. Stubborn, whiny and/or rude authors need NOT apply and will NOT be tolerated. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a spelling and grammar Nazi. I excelled in college level composition and creative writing courses, so correct spelling and grammar are definitely my strengths. I also do well with language, fluidity of words, smoothness of phrases, spotting excessive comma abundance, pesky tense changes and typos, and also helping with character development. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not the best with plot developments. It depends on the story and on what the author has written so far. I shall do my best. I'm also not the greatest when it comes to writing "fight scenes". Mine have turned out to be pretty boring. Please contact me if you have questions about this or need further information. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer authors that accept that they need help and who also have an open mind. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not really picky. I am extremely open-minded and I am NOT easily offended. I don't like stories that are real preachy and/or trying to "sell" something. I also don't approve of stories that bash race, nationality, religion or sexual orientation UNLESS it applies to a character's personality/development. But doing it needlessly is uncalled for. |
