I have several years of workshop experience, and even more of peer editing. I went to university to study writing, and got a healthy dose of literature as well. I now have a BA in Liberal Arts, but I don't want to leave peer review behind.

The level of my involvement in reading your work can vary from proofreading (I will NOT do a full proofread digitally), to major story/character structure overhaul. There's text, ideas, and execution. Please tell me what you'd like help with.

I'm not the sort of beta reader who will nag you for regular updates. I won't demand of you what I can't do myself. I'm much happier to get manageable chunks spaced out over time.

Before agreeing to a long-term relationship, I'll want to skim a large chunk of your work first. I will give my thoughts on that preliminary read. For one-shot read throughs, I will be as thorough as you ask me to be.

Catching spelling-grammar-logistics-saidbutnotseen errors. Like "reeking havoc" (You have stinky havoc?), which is actually "wreaking."

My peers always find my edits useful, and often enlightening--I won't just tell you it's wrong, I'll explain why.

Asking questions. Often my edits are questions in the margins. Why are they doing this? What does this room actually look like? If, then?

Stagnation--when my brain is actively stimulated, I forget to write. This leads to bad habits when I start again, like using cliche phrases. Tarnation.

I like to edit what I like to read. Historical, romance, humor, fantasy, sci fi, particularly any combination of the above. Favorites include ancient cultures, hedge witches, gods and mortals, spin-offs on Christian dogma (Satan tap dances!), politics and action, characters who have more sense than a common duck, cranky old women, Africa, pithy language, stories that make me snort with laughter in public places...

No pointless gore, overwrought angst, or stereotypical plots/scenarios/characters, PLEASE. I love subversion of stereotypes, but if it's been done to death, I will tell you so. If you don't want to take the major changes I will suggest to make it more original, then the relationship will end.
