I like to think of myself as a "revisionist" writer, and I like to ask that those who ask for my services do not become frustrated with me if I ask them to send me second, third, fourth drafts of a single chapter. I make a lot of comments on the side. My comments are not law and never will be, but they should be taken seriously. I believe that everything needs at least a little tweaking.I like to offer the writer I am betaing with tips and tricks I have learned from various instructors, as well. I fear that I am a little bit of a teacher.
I love Microsoft Word, and I use it to betaread everything. I often use the comment system, so please let me know if you do not have one of the Microsoft Suites. I also have Microsoft Works, Notepad, Y3, and several other writing programs at my disposal.
Here are some writing-related facts about me, for those curious:
I anticipate graduating in May of 2010 with a BA in Professional Writing.
My aspirations are to edit books, newspapers, or magazines in the very near future.
I have taken several creative writing courses, including both short story writing and poetry.
I am currently enrolled in a course called Scientific and Technical Editing, which is fascinating.
I was published several times in my High School's literary journal, of which I was also secretary.
I ask that those who want me to read their work keep an open mind and be respectful. You must be willing to listen to constructive criticism, but I will never disrespect you or the work you have put forth. I offer what feels like too many suggestions sometimes, and I never want to impose my will upon some other person's story.
