Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a very scatter-brained person, but when I get down to business, I am very efficient. I like to have you tell me every single detail of your story that you're considering doing, concepts you'd like to try out, etc. I like having constant discussion about my critique because I often lose my thoughts when I'm trying to write everything out in an e-mail, so you'll have to have some sort of instant messenger. (Or if you'd like, I have a microphone headset and we can actually TALK about it.) I have pretty much every messenger out there. Just try me.
I'm very critical, but I'm not mean. How does that work out? I don't even know. I will tell you what I think you should change and I will tell you outright, but I will give your feelings a bit of consideration in my wording. I don't believe that my job is a "cold" position, in that you and I are strictly beta and author.
I like to take on a lot of tasks at once, so this may mean that I am currently serving as beta-reader for more than three authors (at the time I was writing this, I am serving as beta-reader for four authors). This will split my attention, and you may not like this about me. If you don't mind sharing me with four others, then yes, I am the person for you. If you really would like me to put my full attention on you, contact me and I'll let you know when I think I'll be able to free up my time. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I like to make things concise. As much as I appreciate flowery writing, it's not for me. Adjectives are your friends, but eventually, you get tired of your friends if you're with them too often. I'm very good at pointing out holes in your plot and helping you keep your story fresh. I can also help you figure out what you want your story to be about and where you plan on going with the story. In a nutshell: Grammar, punctuation, formatting, conciseness, and concept. |

I'm very scatter-brained, so I may not get back to you as soon as you'd like. I'm online almost every day, though, so if you'd just remind me to pay attention to you, that'd be great. I'm also not the best at badgering you to update unless you specifically ask me to. |
