Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader I tend to stick pretty closely to what you're writing (I'm not going to say, "Oh gee, I don't feel like those two characters should end up together, yadda yadda..."). Flow, as in how the sentences and paragraphs sound when read aloud, is important to me. If asked, I will certainly tell you what I think about the stories content, but mostly I concentrate on what I can do to make the story more technically sound. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have this ... thing (one might call it an obsession) with a well-flowing paragraph, and I'm usually pretty good with punctuation. However, I also really like the choppy, bulleted, sort of new-age style of writing. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I like commas, a lot, and sometimes I worry about hurting writer's feelings so I'm hesitant to mention things. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I read a lot of romance, so I feel *fairly* knowledgeable in that area. I love fantasy, slash, love/hate relationships, and humor. None of these are necessary, but they make it more fun for me to read :) |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Historical fiction I feel a little iffy about, just because I'm not update on all the technical terms that may be used, and I hate when people mix modern slang into a historical fiction. Yeah, I guess that's about it. |
