Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am an English Major and Japanese Major with a minor in education in college. I hope to lend a hand with anyone who would like my help. I have taken many creative writing courses and I am very stoked for betareading. I really enjoy editing and I have a pretty good knowledge with history (however if you're looking for government knowledge - all I can say is AHH!)
For betareading I would prefer a way to contact you. IM preferably or I suppose e-mail works too. And please, PLEASE proof read your document/story once before sending it to me. I don't like getting something that has not been glanced over. I ask a little effort on your part.
Honestly? I am a tough critic. If you want a real review, I will give you one as best as I can. I will also be as brutally honest as I can. I really love writing, and I would love to improve some writing out there. I am very good at pinpointing problems in a story, such as plot oddities or even simple things as grammer. And I don't really have a beta-reading style. I have been editing stories for a long time and people generally like what I give them. However, if you're only looking for a nice/pleasant review telling you how "perfect" your story is, I request that you do not come to me. I am neither interested nor want to. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I would say grammer, sentence structure, plot....really I don't know what my strong points are. They are random and varied but I am a very reliable editor, I can assure you that. :) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'd say a weakness is that I am picky. And I am a bit bias on how something is written (structure wise that is). Though I'd say my worst weakness is procrastinating, but that means I can get something done very quickly. If you need something done by a date, I will most likely get it done. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I can read just about everything, but I hate stories that are high school drama stuff (with all of that OMG language). I CANNOT stand that. However, I will read anything objectively and give you my opinion. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really do like just about everything. Even things I have not added to my preference list. I suppose my one iffy area is sci-fi. But that depends. I mean I love Firefly and other sci-fi shows. It just really depends. So please send me your story if you believe I am qualified. |
