Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello! I'm pretty new to Beta Reviewing, but I have participated in workshops before and I also pride myself in basic proofreading skills. What you can depend on with me is that I have a very open mind about literature, and I also have a great ability to see the whole picture, if you would. I understand plot pretty well, and I also can give a few pointers on character development. I can tell you right now, that no matter what kind of material I receive, I will never belittle someone for their attempt at writing something out. I think that just putting something down on paper is a pretty difficult task. Whoever has the guts to try to do that is okay in my book. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have a pretty keen eye for character development. This seems to be a popular strength when it comes to betareading, and I think the reason for that is that it is one of the most important aspects of a story or piece of writing. I'm also very good at word choice. I read a lot of different things from true crime to historical fiction, so I will accept and read anything under the sun. For those of you who have trouble or need help with dialogue, I feel like I could help you with getting over that hill pretty easily as well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am horrible at Iambic Pentameter. So, if you are a poet looking for help on that, you may want to look over someone else's profile. I also have a deadline problem from time to time, a product of school and work wearing me out. But, I promise that it won't take too long to get through work, but you might be able to find someone who is a bit faster on this server. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer contemporary lit. I also love Sci-Fi, and I can't pick up too many books of that stuff now a days because my girlfriend loathes it. So, if you could swing some of those my way, I'd love it. I've read a lot of Bradbury and Card, so anything along the lines of that stuff would be great. Also, I'm a sucker for westerns, and southern gothics. So, in a nut shell, anything really. |

Fantasy. I will read some fantasy storys and review them, but they have to catch my eye. |
