Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I think it's important to put a valiant effort into anything that you do, and I'm no different when it comes to betareading someone's story. I'm typically both quick and thorough when getting a chapter back, and I think I can give most people some pretty valid direction to help them write. I'm all about improving with everything I write, and I'd like to help someone else do the same. The only things I really expect when someone comes to me looking for help, is that they are willing to take advice without getting defensive, they are ready to try hard to improve their work rather than have me write their story for them, and that they have a basic understanding of the English language. I promise that I won't always be right, don't expect that from me, but I will try hard.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'd say my biggest strength is that I've edited for people before, and I love doing it. Of course if you want specifics, I'm pretty good at the grammar and spelling aspect of writing, I know how to make stories flow decently, and I have finished stories before so I could probably help in that area. I promise if you choose me you won't look like a fool as far as conventions go. I've got a fairly extensive vocabulary, and I tend to be pretty astute in finding plot holes as well.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses are commas, I'm completely crap with them, and the fact that I can get a bit harsh with my critique. I have a problem with turning a person's writing into how I would say something, and that's not really what editing is about, so if there are an overwhelming amount of mistakes I'd be more likely to send back a chapter with some suggestions and tell the writer to try again. This is a very give and take process.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would like to read a novel-length story if that's possible, and one that the writer actually believes will be finished. Of course, I won't turn down a good one-shot. I love romance. I think it's sweet. I will read most stories, but if they contain at least a little romance I guarantee I'll be happier.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like horror. (Supernatural doesn't necessarily qualify as horror). And if you're planning on killing off you're main character I don't want to be a part of it. That's just not nice. I don't want to read a slash story. Though homosexual characters don't scare me, I don't want them to be the focus of the story. No creepy themes like incest or pedophile-like stuff. And sorry to all you poets out there, I am a simply prose kind of gal.

If you're writing anything other than that, we can talk.
