Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I try and give honest opinions about ideas but won't hesitate to say something for fear of hurting your feelings. I don't plan on stroking your ego or making you feel like you're the best writer out there. You're not Frank Herbert, you're not Tolkien, you're not even Glen Cook. Points if you've read anything by Glen Cook, by the way. I'm big into structured magic systems and love it when people actually use their imaginations. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've been told that I give very good, helpful reviews that assist people in making changes in their story. I also point out areas that haven't been thought out effectively. It's difficult to say what I'm good at because you might not think an area needs work until I point it out for you. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
What? I'm not perfect? My key weakness is probably that I'm a little on the lazy side and it would take me a bit to finish commenting on your work. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
It varies. As long as a story is well written I can forgive some minor faults. That's what we're here to fix, right? |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Look at the summary for your story. If it sounds anything like "Bill was just an orinary kid until he discovered he had magical powers that took him to faraway world where he was destined to save the kingdom from a super evil villain" then you should just skip over me, because you won't like the comments I give. |
