Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm Aibari, and I've been writing for a long time. I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, I have issues with bad angst and pointless melodrama, and at the moment, I'm really into slash.
As a beta, I'm not nice for the sake of making you feel better. If it's not good, I will tell you so. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Characters and dialogue. Descriptions. Norse Mythology. Norwegian culture and language. Making up crack science, and making fun of clichés. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Settings. Can at times be overly harsh. I have a tendency to ramble. Easily distracted, at times slow to respond/get things done. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Slash, please. Or gen. I can do het and femslash, as long as it's not too graphic. Stories with an actual plot. Mysteries. Detectives. Just about all kinds of fantasy, but especially urban, steampunk and similar. Faery Tales. Happy endings. Humour, especially the black kind. Zombies. Vampires. Werewolves. Clichés made fun of.
Still, I'm open to mostly anything. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Incest. Chan. Graphic het. Mary Sues. Necrophilia. Cutting. Suicide. Whiny angst. Pointless melodrama. Genitals compared to "lolipops" or anything containing the word "love-". Gay boys acting like girls without breasts who cry a lot. Chatspeak. Exessive Author's Notes scattered throughout the story. Fangirl Japanese. |
