Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I like reading just about anything, though I prefer fantasy and romance (and if it's slash, so much the better). Generally, I go through a story and pick everything out. Whether an author chooses to change things or not is entirely up to them. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, spelling, word choice, word order (you'd be amazed how much a sentence can be improved by changing the order of a couple of words), sentence structure, and punctuation. I'm also fairly good at realizing when an author has switched his or her characters' names around. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Tenses. Usually I see when the tenses change, but I have been known to miss when it's changed on accident and oftentimes, I simply correct it in my head. I'm also not terribly strong with semi-colons. It's the one form of punctuation that I still haven't quite mastered. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Fantasy, romance, sci-fi, and action/adventure are my favorite genres, though I'm fairly open and there is absolutely no story content that would turn me away. I'm also terribly fond of slash. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I prefer not to read mystery or horror. I'm not really such a fan of gore either, but if it's not excessive it doesn't bother me. Also, I'm not generally big on femmeslash or religious stuff. |
