Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm open to any sort of story and writing style. The sort of suggestions I make tend to focus on grammar, spelling, and word-usage, but if you need someone to bounce plot ideas off of or would like pointers on re-writing certain parts of your story, I'd be more than willing to help out. I believe in PCP - praise, correct, praise. I'll tell you truthfully what I think could be improved, but I certainly won't ignore the aspects of your story that have been done well. I'd love to be of help to you in any way that I can. :-) |

Grammar, word usage, substitution (for instance, finding alternatives for the word "said" if it is used too many times), spelling, sentence structure, character development, dry humor (particularly in terms of word choice) |

I'll be honest with you in my editing, but I do sugarcoat things, as I'm afraid to be offensive. This tends to annoy some people. I'm also not particularly good at inventing things that aren't at least somewhat based in reality (alternate universes and magical creatures, for instance). I'm imaginative, to be sure, but fantasy simply isn't my forte. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Romance is my preference, as I'm a romance writer myself, but I'm open to most genres. I'm fond of allegorical stories in particular. Of the genres on this site, aside from romance, I would enjoy serving as a beta for general stories, humor, essays, horror (non-supernatural, preferably), plays, spiritual and/or religious pieces, and young adult pieces. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
With very few exceptions, I'm not a big fan of fantasy/supernatural stories or manga. No offense to those who write such stories, of course, they're simply, as the title of this sections suggests, "not my cup of tea." |
