Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi, my name's Jessica, and I love to read. I mainly read fantasy, but I secretly like romances as well.xD I tend to like comedies more than tragedies, but I can do both. I like strong characters, and if you have them, the plot can be a bit weak. I'm also a bit of a flake, so feel free to ping me if I haven't responded. But I love a good story, and your work will probably take priority over my homework. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My main strength is dialogue. I can make different characters sound different when they speak, make it sound natural or like a foreigner--it's the basis of my writing. I am also good at strengthening characters, finding some faults in plots, and grammar errors. I want to be an editor, so I try constantly to improve. I can make things flow. I can spell well, and I write and read a lot, so I know what a story really should look like and how it should work. I also know the art of word choice, thanks largely to the synonym feature on word that has become my best friend. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My plot skills are not the greatest, and description--to me--is optional. I put things off, and am sometimes unwilling to admit that I don't know anything. I'm not one for original ideas or for solving problems. I read things very quickly as well, and may miss basic things. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Fantasy, Romance, General, etc. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Horror, Poetry, etc. Anything too depressing doesn't work with me. It has to have SOME humor in it, and strong characters. |
