Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My betareading style is more categorized towards stories, short or long, although I do enjoy the odd poem or two. All that I expect of anyone requiring my service is that they show me some originality. I love to read something I haven't seen before because it shows that the writer has their own flare. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are found in sentence structure and grammar, but I also have an odd knack at using words that seem to have become more outdated with each new year that passes, and, no, I am not talking about "Ye Old English". I'm just speaking about words such as virulent, sadistic, flush, or ruddiness. It's not often that I come across such words in newer works. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do have one or two weaknesses that I know of. If I truly enjoy the story's plot and fall "in love" with the characters, I do have the tendency to skip over typos and miss-constructed sentences. Plus, I have this thing about needing to see a lot of detail and if I see a place where more can be added, I usually go straight for it, unless I am asked not to. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Preferred stories? Well, I'm not picky with what stories I'm given, only that they are somewhat above semi-literate. Or, more bluntly, if I can't read or comprehend the story, I'm not going to read it. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Stories that I DO NOT want to read are some stories that use slang as their base grammar, but a particular genre would be hard core hintai tat seems not to have any plot at all. Sure, I'll read hintai and yaoi (what female wouldn't?) but I will not read it unless there is something behind it to back up the how, and the why of the story. |
