Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm best at correcting grammar and spelling, and possibly formatting, when it is an issue. I'm fairly good about word choice as well, and am definitely better for prose than poetry. While I am entirely willing to betaread for characterization and other issues of content, my best work would be done for people who are confident in the content of their writing but need someone to read over their work for spelling, grammar, and formatting. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm great at proofreading. This means that I am very good at catching errors in spelling, grammar, phrasing, and style. I'm reliable and good at sticking to deadlines. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not so great with content issues such as characterization and plot details. I do think that these are the sole responsibility of the writer. I can be very firm in my opinions of other people's work, which is not to say that I am impolite, but that I am stubborn (though I do realize that all changes are made at the discretion of the author). I'm not great with poetry. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer prose fiction and essays over poems, and young adult or adult writing over children's stories. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I dislike children's stories, science-fiction, westerns, and poetry. |
