Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi there,
I am available to Beta read stories and one-shots, but not poetry I'm afraid. I will read pretty much anything, and will give constructive criticism to the author. I will not flame, but I am aiming to help other writers excel by advising and helping them in whatever ways I can. I would expect those who wish to improve their abilities or anyone just seeking general guidance to feel free to ask for my services as a beta reader - oh, and we can have some fun too - developing plots and characters and so on. I'm a bit of a spelling and grammar freak, and I'm from England, so I use "u" in words such as colour. :D |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I write a mixture of fiction and non-fiction. While I love fantasy worlds, where anything is possible - limits do need to be taken into consideration - the same is for non-fictional stories. I've seen so many Mary and Gary Sues; and perfect worlds which are always inaccurate. I tend to have a fairly gritty writing style - while I am more than keen to write more happy-go-lucky stories; I tend to have at least one of my feet on terra firma! |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not good with romances or sci-fi. While I love to read a good one, I'm not good at writing my own without it coming off as too cliche. So if you're looking for specific advice in these genres, I may not be able to help you as much as another Beta reader who is more interested in these genres. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm interested in all genres, really. While romance tends to bore me as I find it's overdone, I am still more than willing to beta a romance story or one shot. I'm interested in fantasy, or anything that's a bit unique and different. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Nothing overly cliche. Just ask and I will let you know! |
