Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
When I beta, I try my hardest not to detach myself from the characters and plot of the story. There is something, in my opinion at least, about feeling the characters that helps assist in editing. I generally read over the chapter, story, or whatever I am given at least twice. I begin with learning the piece, I set it down for a short while, and then I go back over it with a more critical eye. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My main strengths are spelling and word usage, but I also enjoy focusing on characterization. To me, that is the most important part of a story. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have been working on my grammar lately, but I feel that this remains one of my biggest weaknesses. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer betareading stories that lean more on the romance side of things, stories that focus more on the interpersonal relationships between the characters. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Anything outside of historical fiction. |
