Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Ummm. I guess I should start by saying that I'm willing to proofread if given the opportunity. Not to sound haughty, but I really can't be bothered with a piece tossed together in a couple of minutes with weird abbreviations (ppl, lol, wth, etc.) and/or no direction. I'm pretty sure most writers on FP are not like that so ya...
Please don't let that completely deter you from asking. (I'm trying not to be a hypocrite--failing miserably, aren't I?) I'll still give your piece a once-over if you'd like. Happy Writing to all! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Strengths? It's hard to self-assess...I'd say spelling and proper word usage. I'm pretty good at recognizing misplaced idioms and sayings. Pop culture references are also picked out when inappropriately used. Oh, and I think my knack for sentence flow is decent as well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Not certain, but I'm pretty sure my tense usage could use some work. I tend to switch back and forth a few times unintentionally. I don't know if it bothers most readers but I'm sure it would drive a grammar nut insane. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'd like to stick to stories dealing mostly with light, realistic scenarios--particularly light romances, comedies, or dramas. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
For some reason, I can't wrap myself around angsty/heavy works. I've read some pieces that are absolutely engaging and brilliant, but I wouldn't know the first thing about constructing something like that. Sorry. |
