Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I, being a writer, understand how nerve-wracking it is when little mistakes make your work a laughing stock. I'm willing to read the work of my fans, or anyone else, if they give me their absolutely best work. I will be firm and honest, and I will help critique your work to victory. I refuse to read something that hasn't been spell-checked. Don't ask me to beta if you don't want someone to take your work and put it through a meat-grinder. Editing and publishing, along with writing, is my future career path. If you want a sugar-coated happy pill of a response, do not, and I mean, do NOT come to me. If you, like me, are seeking to better yourself as a writer, feel free to send me your work and I will do what I can to hone your story into excellence. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel at:
characterization
word choice/voice
plot structure
punctuation
sentence structure/variation
most grammar |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm weak at:
some grammar (I was raised by people who live by double negatives)
tense issues
spelling
timeliness (it'll likely take an eon for me to get through something, cause I'm a busy lady) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Original, with a twist of quirk and intellect. Humor, romance, supernatural. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Don't send me carbon copies of my own work.
Don't send me carbon copies of other people's work.
And, for the love of god, do NOT send me carbon copies of Twilight. |
