I am open to any genre except slice-of-life romance, because I honestly won't be able to give a fair critique there, and anything with a legal basis, because I am a law student and I do enough of that for coursework. I am blunt and honest; I don't sugar-coat things. I used to work as a TA for college writing centers, and hold a Master's in English. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am good at plot, characterization, and dialogue. Good turns of phrase amuse me. I also screenwrite, so keeping the story brisk and strongly told is probably my best attribute. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm less good at themes. I like a well-paced, crisp story; mountains of exposition will tire me and lead to skimming. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like action and adventure in any genre, preferring fantasy and scifi. Favorite authors in fantasy genre include Ursula K. LeGuin, R.A. MacAvoy, Scott Lynch (a new one, but excellent), Jack Vance, James Tiptree Jr., etc. I like fantasy in new and unusual settings, rather than elves and dragons. |
