Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I am very active and I can tell when a certain paragraph in a chapter needs work or is simply just weak in general. I'm very good at telling whether something such as a sentence should just be scrapped or if there needs to be some sort of transition between two paragraphs. All in all, I'm good at creating a nice flow in the chapter so it doesn't feel robotic. I read as a hobby, so I'll be able to give you a reader's perspective on how I think the story is interesting. You'll expect me to make simple grammar comments to saying if I thought the chapter just wasn't interesting to me. I will accept betas who have major problems in punctuation, capitalization, and dialogue. However, I won't beta people with extreme spelling errors because spell check is built into Word. It's not that hard. I also won't take stories with an extremely thin plot or stories that don't interest me. It may be selfish, but beta-reading is a hobby. I'm not going to bother reading a story that I don't care about. |

I do very well in basic grammar, though I'm not a complete master in it. I'm also very good at creating a balance between professional and fun, so I will give you both the specific errors you have and a review from a fan talking about how I thought the plot was moving and my opinion on the chapter as a whole. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I do have a slightly off-beat view on stories, with my views on certain couples or characters. For the most part I'll try to keep those biases to myself, however. Also, I'm not an extremely specific reader, so a grammar problem or an inconsistency issue might pass by my eyes every once in a while. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer to read Romance over anything else, with Humor as a close second. I will take Young Adult, General, Mystery, Thriller, and Drama stories as well, but the range for those genres are slimmer than Romance. I will also consider Fantasy, but it will be a rare occurence when I decide to beta one. For the most part, I will consider all genres. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will absolutely not take anything non-fiction or Western. I also will not take Action or Sci-Fiunless it's an absolutely genius story. |
