Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have edited several stories before, two of which can be found on fanfiction.net. These are "Take Your Cripple to Work Day" and "I'll Only Be That Lucky Once," both written by c7a8t9. I'm also a popular peer editor at school. If you'd like me to beta your story or poem, please send me an email (my address is thepoetjehan@yahoo.com) telling me who you are and summarizing your story. Be sure to include anything that causes your story to be rated higher than K, if it is so rated. I'll send you an email back telling you whether or not I can/will do it. My computer can only handle .doc or .txt files, so if you can't do that just send the text of your story to me in the email itself. Please be open to my criticism, and in turn I will be open to any explanations you may have concerning a particular word choice, character action, etc. Be prepared to do a lot of work and answer a ton of questions! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a grammar queen. I also do well with fixing sentence structure, punctuation, diction, and consistency. I am good with characters as well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I speak and write concisely, for the most part, and I tend to value utility over beauty. Also, I go to school, so I may be slow in getting things back to you on weekdays depending on my workload. As I said in my beta bio, I can be harsh in my criticism. This doesn't mean I don't like your writing, only that I am slightly frustrated because I know you can do better. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I love stories and poems of all kinds. Just please read the section for stories I would rather not beta, and if yours doesn't fall under that category, send it in! |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
If it's overly gory or sexual, I won't do it. It doesn't have to be rated K, but it can't be rated M. If I'm too young to get into rated R movies without an adult sitting next to me for the duration of the film, I'm too young to read their equivalent. |
