Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I, like every other, want to help other people in improve their writing (as well as improve mine in the process.) I enjoy reading other's works and seeing everybody's unique style. Things can be learnt off of others and enhanced as well. I try to look at if there are any grammactical/spelling/typing errors, but I also try to see how much of an effort that writer put into making the story interesting and enjoyable. Character depth, plot, action, humor, and an underlying meaning - all are necessary in a good story in my opinion. It doesn't have to be realistic in terms of ghosts/dragons/aliens, but it has to tell a tale that will make a person think. If I beta-read someone's story, I hope to find these elements, and a lot more as in the the skill of the writer, to be molded into it. I would enjoy reading anybody's works that matches these terms, giving all my advice and compliments to their writing as well.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Well, I honestly don't know my stengths. -.- However, I don't think I'm bad at description. My word choice is very varied, and I DO have a lot of good ideas about stories. If there's anything else, I'm afraid I don't know what they are.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Now, WEAKNESSES are easier for me to detect. My characters are always a bit... two-dimensional, you might say. Overall SKILL of writing a story... yes, I am not good in the that field. Lastly, I'm bad at story titles. I mean, REALLY bad.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Original stories are always a joy for me to read. Adventure, fantasy, suspense, mystery, horror - anything in those genres that has a unique twist to it, a moral attached, or overall has a different outlook on life/story. Just as long as the writer puts some effort and a tad of humor into it, I wouldn't mind reading it.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Romance. I like a little bit of romance in a story, but too much? It makes me want to puke. Also... religious/political stories are bit... boring, as for what I normally expect in a story. Stories that don't have a twist or just flat are based on reality... yes, well, those I find even more trying than romances and such-like. Finally, cliched stories, predictable plots, and an overbundance in humor/violence/gore/swearing/nudity/etcetc. People have to be DYING for attention if that's the only way they can get people to read their story. Yes. That's it as far as I can tell...
