Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello, I'm Bekka. I'm currently 17 and of the female persuasion (one of those will change in the future, I'm not sure which, though =D). I've previously done a lot of editing in the past, mostly on non-fiction, though I have done fiction as well.
I'm quite flexible as to what you want done with your story. A beta reader should tailor them self to the writer's need, not the other way around. I'm also extremely accessible, I'm online a very large majority of the time and have multiple ways to be contacted. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at catching gender/time verb tense agreement and catching the steady progression of an individual. Also, I'm good with punctuation usage, diction, syntax, and my vocabulary level is up there with the best of them, in addition to being fairly good with grammar and proficient in character development. I'd also like to add in that I'm an expert marks(wo)man when it comes to good sarcastic comebacks and lame puns. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Plot is something that I've been trying to work on. As well, I sometimes have problems staying withing the boundaries of that which is accepted as English. I like to make nouns into verbs, make a sentence long hyphenate to substitute a word. Also, I'm not too great with the use of synonyms or spelling (however that's why I'm extremely fond of my dictionary/thesaurus and spell-checking programs) |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
There's no real story that I would choose not to beta, it's more about what I would choose not to. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'd rather not beta anything with historical roots, as I probably wouldn't be able to keep facts straight. Action isn't too much of my cup of tea, either. |
