Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Firstly, I am easy enough to deal with - I like to read the story first and then tell whoever has given me their work to read not necessarily what's wrong with it, but more or less of what they can do to improve what they already have, and I like to give pointers on how to make it work, and if my muse is behaving, I can help them come up with many different ideas. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths in writing are the detail in sentences, portraying the thoughts and feelings of characters more than wasting time making people envision only one thing...I'm pretty good at letting people imagine what I'm thinking without forcing it down their throats. And as a betareader, my strong points are basically the ability to come up with something of good ideas and to help people improve their work. I can spot grammar and word issues rather quickly in a piece of writing, and I can usually find a better word to use than the simple ones most people use. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Basically, I don't always catch everything. There may be a mistake or two left, but those are the fixable ones that you can go in and grab at yourself if I've failed to notice them. But thankfully, these leftover mistakes are ridiculously rare. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to betaread for romance, tragedy, angst, supernatural, and supernatural sort of stories over the rest (though I will do humor or something like that). I'm not particularly picky about chapter lengths - I'll read almost anything - but don't overload me. Other than that, it really doesn't bug me if a story is purely romance or not - I actually kind of like it that way. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
The stories I really just don't do well with reading or helping with are the spiritual or parody sort of storis. I just don't mix with parodies - I've tried writing them and it just doesn't work for me, and as for spirituals - they just aren't my cup of tea, to say the least. |
