Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, or just an editor in general, I tend to pay a lot of attention to the voice of characters, grammar and spelling, and the over-all plot line.
My beta-reading is quite thourough, and I'm usually very quick to get back to you. I tend to ask questions about nearly every little detail, whether they seem important or not. And even though you may get annoyed with me, thinking about those things are always helpful later on. What makes a story really good is when the writer has thought out all of the little things, so that the reader won't have to do all that much thinking.
People should know that I'll take as long as I need to on someone's chapter before I feel that it's good enough to go out. So anyone who wants me to be a beta needs to have a good amount of patience. But if you can deal with that, I can be used to bounce ideas off of and helping you refine your ideas. Of course, it's your story, so I won't help you do much of the actual writing, but I'm happy to help you in any other way. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
In writing, I'm very good at Voice, writing conversations, and discriptions of things.
In beta-reading, I excell at asking questions and helping reword sentences so that your story is more interesting to read. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Ah. My biggest weakness is organization. Especially when it comes to conclusions. And poetry. I can't write poetry, so therefore, I don't really know what I'm looking for when it comes to a good poem. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really enjoy reading almost any well-written story, especially horror, humor, and grounded fantasy stories. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
There's not really anything that I won't read, unless you haven't done a good job in writing the story. And even then, if the plot of the story is good, I'll wade my way through the best I can.
Actually, I take that back. I really don't like reading non-fiction. So please, no non-fiction. Or poetry. |
