Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I absolutely love to edit pieces of work. I can sometimes be seen as harsh or critical, but the people I'm helping understand where I'm coming from, even if they don't take my advice. Please expect the best of me; while I may not be the best person in the world, there will always be someone better than me at talents. I accept who I am, and I am proud of my talents as a writer and of the way I use it to help others who strive to be talented in the art of writing as well. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have several strengths, one of which is watching for diction choice. I have a strength for similes, appositives, metaphors, and I have an eye for how relationships can and will develop. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I have a tendency to repeat myself with phrases, usually in separate chapters. They're usually very recognizable phrases, and it can catch my readers' attentions and distract them from my plot. I am quite a good speller, but sometimes I have trouble with the tricky words that can have the same meaning and they look different. Sometimes I tend to overdo the sophistication and/or 'prettiness' of the sentence structures. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta more gory or supernatural stories above regular stories, but I am fine with any story as long as an author enjoys what they're doing and wishes to improve their skills, always. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would prefer not to receive short stories because I tend to-as the editor and such-want more even though there isn't any. I expect that there can be more content, and a bigger, more interesting plot-even if it's the best short story in the world. |
