Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Generally, I make any necessary changes on punctuation or flow based on my own judgment. However, if anything is unclear as pertains to the actual story (such as a change I make that might have an affect on the story line, or me not understanding something and thinking it should be worded differently or cleared up in some way) I make sure to speak with the author. I read very quickly and I am online reading almost constantly, so I'm very available. If you wish to acquire my services, just contact me with story information. I prefer that some of the story is typed up in advanced so that I can work on beta-ing while the author can continue writing, without readers having to wait weeks and weeks for an update. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very objective, even in my own writing. I can read a story without any prejudices or other thoughts affecting it. I don't let my personal writing style interfere with the author's style, as I find that to be very important to a story. I'm very, very good with punctuation and proper grammar, even going to far as to keep a thesaurus/dictionary open on my computer when I'm editing so that I can avoid as many mistakes as possible. I work very quickly. I'm not afraid to speak to the author on any subject, but I also am very aware that I'm not the author. In the end, what the author says goes. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weakness might be that I generally am on the computer from the late afternoon until the early morning (2pm-ish through 6am-ish). But I am willing to work around the author's schedule. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer anything involving romance, with a higher rating. Whether it be a teen story with a few hook-ups, or a serious, fifty-chaptered story with M-rated lemons, I'm down. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Generally, I'm open to at least considering anything. When you've been reading online as much as I have over the last few years, you realize that sometimes, just to get a taste of something different, you need to read something you aren't partial to. And many times, I've found myself surprised--in a good way! |
