Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a friendly beta who is willing to provide honest and (hopefully) helpful criticism/comments for those who wish to improve their work. Don't be afraid to approach me. I can't bring myself to even hurt a fly haha.
My style - I'm pretty flexible. I could either add comments to your file and send it back or chat to you on msn. It all comes down to what you feel most comfortable with.
Expectations - I take my tasks seriously, hence I would appreciate it if the writer has taken pride in their work as well. Writing should be done to the best of the writer's abiity... By that, I'm referring to minimal/non-existant spelling mistakes and generally correct use of commas and full stops. If I feel that minimal/no effort has been put in on the writer's half, then expect minimal effort from me. Of course, if you're a writer who really struggles with grammar, then I'll help you.
If you choose to hire me please send me a PM and introduce yourself. ^^ Normally, I'd ask you to send me a few details:
1) Your preferred deadline.
2) Your preferred method of feedback (whether you'd prefer to communicate through DocX system, email or msn.
3) What areas of your story you'll especially like attention on.
4) General details of your story such as genre/style. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I lean towards being the creative, observant, open-minded, honest (but kind) and dedicated type. So I'll probably be handy when it comes to story plots, character development, themes etc. |

While I try my best, I may not always do the perfect job when it comes to the technicalities of writing (even though I'm rather decent at it). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm open to most fields although I'm particularly interested in works of fiction. Especially romance, supernatural, fantasy and comedy genres. Supernatural/Comedy + Romances = Bonus. See below for more details. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Stories which contain overly graphic material such as repeated events of non-consensual sex, gruesome violence and... well simply, a work which emphasises inhumane acts as a form of entertainment. Aside from that, sci-fi, historical, high school themed and soap opera/drama-like (imagine the Bold and the Beautiful) materials don't usually appeal to me. |
