Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello, everyone, I'm Scarlett. I love romances, fantasies, poems, and haikus. I can't rhyme worth a darn, but I write lots of freestyle, and my poems are always very metaphorical. I've helped my friends with their stories sometimes, so I do have a bit of experience. I'm a stickler about grammar, spelling, sentence structure, word diversity, and feeling. Meaning, when you write a poem, mean it. Have some emotion. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I can help with romances (PLEASE no smut), fantasies, unrhyming poems, and haikus. I'm good at metaphors and different interpretations. I'm also good at fantasies, creating original creatures/species, and character construction/development. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can't rhyme for anything. I also am not a war/gore/blood-and-guts person. When you ask me for help on a horror story, I won't be good at plotless messes of blood and chainsaws. Plots. Plots are good. If you give me a poem that's supposed to stick to a strict format, like sonnets or limericks, I can't do that either. The most structured I get is haiku. My stories are very character-based (meaning I come up with characters before I come up with a plot) so you'll have to be able to wrap up your own plot. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I definitely prefer fantasy romance. Lovestruck but not sappy. Sappy is bad. I also like haikus and freestyle poems. The more metaphorical and seemingly nonsensical the better! I know I'm contradicting myself, but some things that LOOK nonsensical are actually very deep. Hurt/comfort and tragedy are cool, too. I can make you cry. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't like blood and gore stories with no plot or strictly rhyming poems. I just can't rhyme! Or keep to a format. I'll read gay relationships, but I can't promise I'll be any good at them, simply because I've never written them. |
