Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've been writing for about three/four years now and I've got natural talent, so I feel pretty qualified to beta work for others. I expect any who come to me to have a good grasp of the English language so that my poor eyes don't bleed out of my head, and I expect a little patience. The most length of time I will take with your work is a week, meaning seven (7) days.
I can provide you with an in-depth critique of your writing or not, it's your choice. However, why come to me if you don't want some help?
I consider myself to be a general beta, meaning that I will check for grammar, spelling, characterization, and anything else that I think needs work. If I don't find your story interesting after reading the first chapter, I probably won't be able to beta the rest of it for you. If that is the case, I will e-mail you and let you know that you will have to find another beta.
If you have any questions about how I work, please message or e-mail me. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very good at finding technical and grammatical errors, such as spelling and punctuation; those are the first things I check for. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not very good with character development; the most I can do is tell you if the characters are developing too quickly or too slowly. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really don't have many preferences, though I'm a fan of fantasy and post-apocalyptic science fiction. Horror stories really push my buttons, so I'd love to read some. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not a fan of non-fiction of any sort. Nor am I a fan of poetry; I can't help you with that. Other than that, you can send me anything you want, as long as it's fiction. |
