Tamara Raymond 2004-04-03 . chapter 1
Beautiful work! I love the lessons in this. Yes... I call them lessons! Everything about it... I know writers love criticism, but I can't think of a thing. What a gift!

Indeed...this is quite the breath of fresh air. I think I usually get nervous when reading books with strong racial/ancestral issues, because I think I'm gonna be bombarded with endless waves of intense, negative/perplexed emotions. You took the whole social issue and turned it into something blatantly realistic and acceptable. The main character acknowledges that he's stressed by some of the family influences he must endure--and yet at the same time he doesn't slice his heart open with it. I admire you for taking this friendly, optimistic approach to the story.

The narration and how it interrupted the story here and there was tactfully done. Art broke off to explain in detail the background and personalities of his various friends; and in doing so he helped us readers understand HIM even more.

Yes, I can see just how promising it would be to read the conversations/interactions of Nat and Art. They certainly seem like a happy couple, and I imagine the reason for this has been a long history of friendship leading up to this point in their lives. Isn't that the best sort of relationship?

The only thing bad about this story is that it ends. This whole sliver felt like a giant introduction to something really grand and magnificent. I wonder if you planned this....because i get the feeling you're planning to write something epic and meaningful....only it doesn't deserve to be placed here online. Whatever the case, you've certainly interested me. ^_^

Good job, and peace out
