I remember reading this story in the Artistic License column and thinking it was brilliant. I'm glad I stumbled on it again so I could review it. You have quite the knack for sad stories, huh>

Nice. Although I wouldn't compare it to "Memento."

The final chapter is what really sells it. An interesting choice, making the old man the final victim, and not the girl. Having the little girl die is a predictable move, and sadly so. It reshapes the opening scene to be about simply introducing the girl for reintroduction later. It robs the opening scene of its introspection.

I first read this as featured in a column called, I believe, "Artistic License". Impressed, I followed the link to your profile in order to add it, and a few pieces of your other work, to my favourites list.
I enjoy your style; my figurative hat goes off to you for your ability to create such compelling characters.

As always, spectacular. A very nice take on Death. The only problem is all the rabid plot bunnies it's spawned, but that's my own problem Very well done
