This was great. It was creepy, the way that you (or the narrator) referred to the child still as a "girl", even though I could see in my mind just this bloody mess of tissues and hair and stuff, with him holding the skin nearby. This really got to me. Fantastic work.

It definitely reminds me of Poe. Totally creepy! I don't see why anyone would complain about your style of writing - I like the fact that you created a rhythm without rhymes, which sometimes tend to restrict creativity, at least in my experience.
