This is nice, I've never read a story with an Egyptian-themed plot before. I love Egypt, but my interest mostly falls on its mythology (my first love is ancient China, though). Keep it up; I think this story is gonna turn out to be really interesting.

Why do you spell magic as "magick" when it's obviously the same word? I've seen similar things before but I never understood it.
