You have good imagery, and an obvious gift for narrative, but this story needs some dialouge. Dialouge and characters are the things that will keep your readers interested and prevent them from skimming (something I had to make myself not do). Also, use the words for numbers and not the numbers themsevles. It keeps the story from looking sloppy.
