Oasis Elvea 1/1/04 . chapter 1It would be such a more honor if more people were able to think like you. A wonderful essay and I agree with you completely on the issue. It is unfortunitly true that many Christians believe the Earth is but a tool for their use but unfortunitly almost all religions think like that I have only found that Earth Religions like Pagans, Wiccans, Druidest and other Earth Religions have thought the Earth highter then us. If others were to read this essay some may respond harshly but maybe many could see beyond what they know and maybe find that the creations can be more important then the 'creator'. It would be lovely to see something like this posted in a newspaper or something. I would love to hear more about what you think! Hopefully more of your work will be up here. Blessed Be! Oasis |

Radyn 5/28/03 . chapter 1As I write this, I cannot help but feel a poignant sadness in knowing that somewhere, someplace in the world right now, a tree has been cut down. A river has been poisoned. A majestic elk has been shot. To be sure, humans have screwed up the earth since the day we first evolved into conscious beings. I feel that humans were meant to do this somehow. It is the only way we can live. We do nothing to contribute to the environment and when we are done raping one place we move on to the next. Humans are bestowed with higher intelligence, but with it comes also a ruthless will to survive. An inexhaustible drive to conquer our enemies, whoever they may be. Our only skill, adaptation at any cost. It is what makes us different from other animals. Only now have we realized that. Only now do we fully see what we have done. And only now can we try to fix it. Excellent essay, and you managed to refrain from angrily ranting about the topic. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." |
Jewls1 5/28/03 . chapter 1Hey there! I'm not sure what it takes for university and such, but, I was deeply moved by this essay. I like the environment and mother nature and it's good to read the differences in the opinions of different people. You should actually send this to the governement. It could open some political minds and help our earth. Good luck with your studies! Ciao! |
Quiet One 5/28/03 . chapter 1Wonderful. I agree completly. Hopefully some people wlil read this and open their eyes to the problems we have. So many people are like, 'well, all those environment things like global warming and such might happen in the future, and I probably won't be alive to see it so who gives a damn.' Its that kind of attitude that fristrates me. Well, keep writing! Quiet One |
