Surautomatism 2003-08-23 . chapter 1This was hillarious. You are an excellent writer.
I'll take over Warner Brothers with you. Stupid freaks, they screwed Harry Potter up.
Sweeden owes us money? *Gasps*
*Steals clogs* |
S.L.Beckman 2003-07-02 . chapter 1so insightful! Will u help me take over Nebraska? If u help me take over Nebraska, I'll help u w/ WB and Sweden! |
Roxanne Harvard 2003-06-12 . chapter 1Sam, trust me. You are most definitely alone. I love the Roadrunner and his ideals (being rather a hardcore socialist m'self) and if he's a socialist I completely support him. I am personally starting my own campaign based on your brilliant analysis. I think that since the Coyote is trying to KILL the Roadrunner (whom I love), it is a symbol of the capitalist persecuting the socialist. This must be stopped, preferably by some ACME bomb that's actually effective in killing the Coyote, rather than exploding the cliff he is standing upon and bending him accordion shape once he gets himself out of a five foot hole in the ground. With me, my brother, for Scotland and merry England! And of course, my darling Roadrunner. |
serephent 2003-06-11 . chapter 1Not a bad start, but I did not actually find it funny, and I am sure it was meant to make the audience laugh. I suggest maybe a bit more polish or lenght? |
RCS 2003-06-10 . chapter 1This is an excellent piece. I was turned to your writing by a comment in one of Admiral's pieces, and I'm glad he made that plug. This is truly a light-hearted work that takes on a heavy subject and treats it with humor, all the while making a point. And you know, I've long wondered why, even as a kid, I always wanted the coyote to win. |
StarlightWarrior 2003-06-09 . chapter 1*claps* An entertaining and well done peice, even with the eccess of ( and ) brackets. Such a wonderfully sarcastic bit pf writing. . .
You know, I never liked the roadrunner. I always hoped the coyote would get him one day. Yes, I was a strange child. |
Admiral 2003-06-09 . chapter 1Hey, I'm all for knocking over Sweden...but you probably knew that.
Anyway, your analysis was pretty good up till the end. Warner Bros. wasn't always a godless, anti-American propaganda pit (and it only recently got worse when Mr. Jane Fonda got involved). This reminds me of another cartoon they put out that actually spelled out the greatness of Capitalism.
In that one, Sylvester inherits a fortune from his old lady owner, and Elmer Fudd is executor of the estate. Now of course Sylvester wants to go mad and blow everything, and his cat buddies want to help him, but Fudd tries to convince him to do nice things with it like save and invest. Here's the kicker: In the midst of all the usual cartoon hijinx where the cats try to sneak out with the money, Fudd lays out his case, producing what has to be one of the best explanations of market economics I've seen in a long time. There are Economics Professors who could use this cartoon in their lectures.
So there was a time, namely the Forties and Fifties, when Warner Bros. got it. Then the sixties happened, and led to creeping Socialists and reviewers like lili brik.
Anywho, cool story as usual. |
lili brik 2003-06-09 . chapter 1lol...amusing, if not quite flawless analysis. |
