Reviews For: More Than a Pledge
Tora Hikari 2004-04-13 . chapter 1
As a Boy Scout who now has no hope of reaching the Eagle rank but with a burning desire to see the United States of America succeed, I thank you for this essay, and for giving words that truly should be marked eternal such. This is meant as a review, but I guess I think the thing I want to know is, what was your grade on this paper?
Rosa Vernal 2004-02-03 . chapter 1
So no comments on how the schools make little kids who don't know what the words 'pledge' and 'alligiance' mean pledge alligiance?
Personally, I don't pledge alligiance to a piece of cloth.
We of the elite are glad to read things like this. That way, we know there are more suckers willing to fight the wars for us. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Remember the spirit of the bayonet, "Kill, Kill, Kill!"

I'm not American so this is a little weird for me. How is it that you can imbue an object with so much power? It seem kind of creepy to me.
Also, the pledge of allegiance itself seems way too much like indoctrination. It’s the sort of thing one would expect of a third world dictatorship.
But don't mind me, I'm foreign and thus worthless.

Bravo! Great essay! You conveyed your message well, and you have a true grasp of what the Pledge really is. Nice work!
Gaurdian of the Forest 2003-07-18 . chapter 1
You do, however, realize that your comment on not even being willing to read something that happens to differ from your opinion puts a lovely beacon of truth on why many cannot grasp your way of thinking and puts a shackled stereotype on a very noble passion. Perhaps opening your vision would fit more of the mold of a true American, the American who accepts the poor, weary masses, and who believes in freedom. Not one who insults and denies individual thought. You write with passion, but you lack understanding and the power of persuasion. Perhaps you can greet me in a more dignified way, and listen, instead of turning a deaf ear. Be proud of who you are, but don't beat others over the head with your opinions. It only causes tension, distrust, and misunderstanding. Congradulations, you are the one who makes me cringe.
Zakiyyah Tynte 2003-07-17 . chapter 1
Thanks for reviewing my essay.

I think the Pledge would have more meaning if it wasn't required in schools, and I think it should have a lot of meaning, especially on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Isabella MacElfrish 2003-07-13 . chapter 1
I must sound like abroken record right now, but HOOAH! Right on! People around me have often made comments to me because I always look so serious at school when I say the pledge. Well how the Hell should I look? I take the pledge seriously and it would seem you do as well. Bravo. Keep writing.

Amen! Very good essay. Keep it up!

Thought you explained well about the Pledge of Allegiance.
serasivad 2003-06-30 . chapter 1
I have yet to hear you back up all that ** your always going on about and produce some facts.

How does America make the world a better place?

What good has America ever done for anybody besides themselves with purely democratic motives?
