It's funniest reading it while listening to the original songs. "In sequence, we count the first three positive numerals of our mathematical system, followed by a grunt" Okay, you pretty much rocked all the way through. I laughed all the way, right from that hilarious beginning. Unfortunately, i may never be able to enjoy this song (yes i liked this song before. So sue me.) ever again. It just seems so silly now. "So if then, why are you, no, wait, through more repetition, I choose to restate my question" Hahahahaha. Loved it. |

For the line, in the original, 'I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek', you put, 'Yet I simply gave him a reassuring look and forgot the happening'. This is not wholly accurate, as the original is actually a pun on the other possible meaning of 'to turn the other cheek' with reference to one's backside, to present the second party with the other buttock. It is a humourous little play on words that has root in the Bible quote instructing Christians that if struck upon one cheek (with reference to the face, one hopes) that rather than acting on the natural instinct of retaliation, the attacker should be presented with the other cheek to strike. From this we get the phrase 'to turn the other cheek', meaning, as you said, 'to forget the happening'. |
