I felt as if I was really there while reading this. I remember when I heard it on the radio, and then saw the picture and article the next day. It is sad.

This is a very good poem. I could almost see it happening as you described it.

Now THAT'S depressing.

You kind of have to sympathize with that poor man, as well as all the ones who died. It's really sad. I've never really tried using a haiku. Maybe I should sometimes. A lot of the best poems I've read are haikus (including this one), and I must say that the lack of an inherent rhyme helps free up some creativity.

I'm rambling. Anyway, you managed to capture a tragic moment without "desecrating" it (for lack of a better word). Nice work.

I read about this...your series of haikus captured the tragedy in an excellent way.

wonderful piece! very sad and tragic, but nicely written. it musta been a terrible incident. all those reckless drivers out there...they cause so much pain in others' lives. ah well, good job on this. keep on writing!

Great haiku! A also heard about this. It makes you wonder if older people should be able to carry a liscense . . . . but whatever the outcome I hope for the best.
