Weren't all the buildings torn down? I could've sworn that they were. It;s still really creepy how they all just disappeared without a trace, though.

Nice work, Julie. I've always been interested in what happened to the Roanoke colony, so that helps that the topic is already one that people know about, and are keen on learning more. It sounds like you did a bit of research here. It almost has the feel of a historic novel, which lifts it above the common dry tale of history. Good job!

I really enjoyed this story. There is some great potential in it. I think you should pursue this further. Maybe you could go into further detail about John's life and family before they arrived in Virginia, and tell more about his three years waiting in England for a ship. The way you told this story, which is exciting to begin with, added the extra flavor that is needed to write excellent stories. Nicely done.

An interesting and generally well written historical story. I did notice a couple of spelling mistakes, but that was all. One thing I think would be a good idea for foreigners like me is an author's note saying whether or not John White was a real historical character, because I don't know whether he was real or from your imagination. It would just help to add a little something to the story. I enjoyed the story, though, so well done!
