carmice3 1/17/04 . chapter 1Well I pretty much agree with everything. You could have benefited from stating your quarrel, rather than being so emotional about it. Emotional letters tend not to be taken seriously. Did you send this? If so you probably made some watch list. The next time you fly you can expect to be the lucky recipient of a 'random' luggage search. Yay for the Patriot Act! |
J.Moser 12/18/03 . chapter 1Very well written! What a powerful letter! I decided to add a little something that a CountessErzsebet has been posting all over this website on review pages. I wish this Republican craze would end and a Democrat would win the upcoming election. But enough with that, now let's take the time to read George W. Bush's resume. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE LAW ENFORCEMENT: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available. MILITARY: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam. COLLEGE: I graduated from Yale University. I was a cheerleader. PAST WORK EXPERIENCE: I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland, Texas in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our right-wing friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected Governor of Texas. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR: I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America. I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money. I set the record for the most executions by any Governor in American history. With the help of my brother, the Governor of Florida, and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,0 votes. ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT: I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week. I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury. I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history. I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period. I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market. I am the first president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. I set the the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one year period. After taking-off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U. . I am supporting development of a nuclear "Tactical Bunker Buster," a WMD. In my State Of The Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq, then blamed the lies on our British friends. I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. president. In my first year in office over 2-million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month. I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any president in U.S. history. I set the record for least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families - in war time. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people) shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. I've broken more international treaties than any president in U.S. history. I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I am the first president in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community. I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government . I am the first president in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission. I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law. I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. prisoners of war" detainees) and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention. I am the first president in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. history. My political party used the Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate ripoffs in history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history. I am first president in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security. I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. RECORDS AND REFERENCES: All records of my tenure as Governor of Texas are now in my father's library, sealed, and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review. Please consider my experience when voting in 2004 - |
Grieve 12/14/03 . chapter 1Very true. This makes a really strong statement, and it's a good one. |
bobbysinblack 12/1/03 . chapter 1well done! but its not only britain and america that is occupying iraq..australia is too, and i live here! john howard is a total kiss arse and i am even more ashamed of him than i usually am for being bush's bitch...anyway, i really liked the way you wrote it, you sounded really arrogant! which i loved! |
Ca 8/11/03 . chapter 1yes, well done. |
Tiefling 7/26/03 . chapter 1Saying you are 'well educated' and 'thought provoking' comes across as a boast about your intelligence, which is kind of inviting people to shoot you down in flames. I won't flame you, I just thought it sounded a touch arrogant. I sympathise with your views on the war. Your letter was very well written. It's a little light on sources, though. |
Imaginary Player 7/24/03 . chapter 1Calling someone "stupid" is so first-grade... Anyway, as for this essay, I liked it very much; you convey your opinions (through fact, no doubt) well, and you get your point across without being aggressive or abusive. _ |
HNMN Commander for the Right 7/24/03 . chapter 1you said freethinkers are dangerous...were you talking about yourself? You're way to stupid to be dangerous. |
Gaurdian of the Forest 7/24/03 . chapter 1you were very passionate. did you really send this letter to the president? Because I highly doubt he would take anything you said seriously if you smacked him over the head for being a dumb Republican. Unfortunately, when people are insulted, they turn a deaf ear. I would, too. I liked the letter, it was, as I said, passionate, and you provided a lot of good evidence. I thought you were too arrogant at times, and very insulting near the end, but, whatever you believe will get through to the man... Also, Dwight D Eisenhower ran his presidency in a style known as the "Hidden Hand Presidency." Nobody really knew what went on behind that closed curtain. Many people were not comfortable with this style of governing. As George Santayana said, "If we do not learn our history, we are condemned to repeat it." |
James Jago 7/24/03 . chapter 1Yeah! And just when does the US administration plan on starting the job of sorting out the mess made by the USAF... in AFGHANISTAN? You blew it up in the cause of liberating the people of both countries, you give them a hand putting it back together. Germany was included in the Marshall Plan (I'll ignore the self-serving agenda behind that in view of the good it did), so why not take the same spirit with Iraq? |
teena 7/23/03 . chapter 1 Ok, well no offence for completly disagreeing with your essay, but I am exactly the opposite of you, and I am also seventeen and consider myself rather well-educated and would like to think that I am well up to speed with what's going on. I also am on the varsity debate team at my high school, but I am also very tired tonight and have to got to work in less than six hours so I will keep this short. . . The United States and Iraq do not have a very friendly relationship, nor have we had one for a very long time. And I beleive President Bush had his reasons for searching in Iraq for WMD and the first one would be the point I just made. Also, searching for weapons was not the only objective in our war with Iraq, it was also to rid out the clear threat Saddam Housein. As well as a considerable amount more...which you can find a What can I say...I just don't understand democrats? |
lili brik 7/22/03 . chapter 1I hope you sent this to him and he actually took the time to read it...the guy and all his buddies make me sick, mostly for all the reasons mentioned here. Keep it up. |
tofujunky 7/22/03 . chapter 1You Go Boy! I loved it. |
iridium 7/22/03 . chapter 1I agree with everything you've said. I was outraged when I heard about how the government cobbled together fake evidence about Iraq's nonexistent weapons. Did you actually send this letter? |
