I think the dialogue is a little forced and but your description is really good.
I have trouble with dialogue too, so that may be why I noticed haha.

the merchant- "summoning up a bit of courage" and "roared" somehow doesnt seem to fit together very well.

i've always loved the phrase "screaming bloody murder"...literally or figuratively? phew, big words.

Adrian's a great name for the main character.. not too common, yet not so randomly vague and obscure that it's a bitch to pronounce. I've just got two questions : how old is Pegs, and does Pegs have a crush on both the Capt. and Adrian, or just a long-time fondness for the Capt.?

That was very good, loved it. Just wonderful detail.

After reading this chapter, I have changed my mind about the cap'n (both Captian Bovie and the extremely Lucky Jack Sparrow)... I saw pirates of the carribean again, too. I think Captian Bovie is capable of pirtating and is responsible with is crew while Captian Sparrow has some issues with how to be a pirate and would make a MUCH better naval captian. Adrian reminds me A LOT of Will Turner/Orlando Bloom. My new story is up but I forgot to use spell check so there are A LOT of errors.
