WhinyPoetryFromGenerationY 2006-02-08 . chapter 1Gosh, that was a very good poem. But the end verse made it a bit "never again the burning times". Other than that, great poem! |
addie pray 2005-03-26 . chapter 1Beautiful, powerfull. Well done. |
greenbanana 2004-07-08 . chapter 1that was great! A good topic, and nice rhythm |
Kyaroru Fanel 2004-07-08 . chapter 1I love this piece of work, though I hate the feeling of it. Excellent job on the use of descriptive words - Mists of Avalon was a kick ** book!! |
forgotten-magick 2004-06-16 . chapter 1i guess i'm not the only person who thinks that the real magick of this world is disappearing. i really liked the 3rd and 4th verses. this is beautiful. |
kalariah 2004-03-11 . chapter 1This is very beautifully written, and it leaves a sense of aching sadness even in my very-Christian soul. I can't say I'm sad that paganism was wiped out as much as it was, but I don't think they should have used violence to try and convert people. Argh--you have no idea how much I hate agreeing with you, when I believe with all my heart that witchcraft of all sorts is evil! It pains my very soul to agree with you! But the Catholics should not have persecuted different religions the way they did, especially when their own organization is so corrupt. They don't even practice the principles of the Man they profess to follow. |
Melusine07 2004-02-10 . chapter 1But now we are beginning to reclaim some of what was lost. Slowly, we are picking up the peices of the old mysteries, and resurrecting the religion of the Great Goddess!
Are you Pagan? If not, you might join us, and see that not all was lost when the Christians took over. Covens of Witches stayed active all through the Dark Times, the Burning Times. they were isolated from each other until the 1950's, but slowly they were brought back together and now WitchCraft is a recognized religion with one of the fastest growing populations in the U.S.!
No on can ever truly stamp out the spirit of the Great Goddess, or the secrets of magic that She gives to Her people!
Anyways, great poem!
and Mists is my all-time fav book! It's what got me started on Paganism.
Please feel free to email me. (carlandra81@yahoo.com)
By the way, please don't take this as an attempt to convert any one to my religion. I don't beleive in preselytizing (sp?), I just thought I'd let you know that the Old Religion is still aive today, in case you didn't know. (I didn't after I first read Mists)

breakdown in the waiting room 2003-11-22 . chapter 1This is, hands down, your best poem. I love this one immensely. I am a bit biased, though, as I am Irish. . .can't help but take it all personally. *grits teeth* I'm so tired of hearing about St. Patrick and Columcille and all those "saints" that "converted" Ireland. It was fine before they got there, thankyouverymuch. St. Brigid, who was basically stolen from pagan legend and turned into a Christian icon of subjugation and "purity. . ." Gah.
I bought Mists of Avalon about a week or so ago. I read the quote above this poem and in your bio and just had to get it :) I haven't started it yet -got so much to do, I can't sit down and give it the proper amount of attention yet- but it sounds so lovely.
Again, great poem. The first person/address style really helped with the flow. I took it as a lament/command really. Love it!

Getuie 2003-11-15 . chapter 1One word came to mind... OUCH!
Beautifully written and it really had a strong flow...
Just one non-related comment: I just discovered your journal... and saw you weren't accepting anonymous reviews... It's a shame that people are so cruel that it becomes a necessity... I sincerely hope it all works out for the best for you. |
Werecat99 2003-10-10 . chapter 1I liked that. The imagery was beautiful and the grief for times long lost is evident in every word. Good work. |
UnstableRoyalty 2003-10-07 . chapter 1I love it! you put so much emotion into it, and it makes me sad when I read it. |
Rune Almstrom 2003-09-13 . chapter 1Wow, great imagery, right to the point. I love the heart of this poem. I absolutely loved the Mists of Avalon books, and this captures that essence. |
Unfinished Author 2003-09-07 . chapter 1Very powerful. The part about glastonburys bells was really expressive and held a vivid image. A very good piece congrats. |
 Kristen no Delaunay 2003-09-06 . chapter 1O.O
That's very cutting, that. Very striking, very cold. Frightening, as I'm sure it was intended to be.
You have achieved your goal.
