Misty's D 5/11/04 . chapter 1 Well Mike, that was a very... thoughtful piece there, and... I can't think of anything to say on it! There is nothing bad about the piece what so ever, and all the thoughts in it are downright true, and are all what nearly everybody wants in this world... Hats off to you though Mike, this was a nice piece. |
Kitai Matsuru 4/18/04 . chapter 1Very very well said. I must say that I do agree, and it's nice to find someone with similar views. The world is a very screwed up place, but I still love it. I've been told I'm too trusting of people, that I'll get hurt one of these days because of it. I've never once thought of the people I know on line as bad, or out to get me. I want to be able to trust everyone I meet, but i knwo it's hard. I've listened to my friends before, and they talk about all this bad stuff, how people are stupid. Well yeah, they are to a certain extent, but my friends are the real idiots if they think they're the exceptions. I see things very differently from most people, and I love the world, I love people, and I love being here. I hate the way kids are growing up, I hate the way our culture has changed, and I hate knowing what the future will probably be like. it sucks a lot. I could go on and on about this, but I think I'm gonna cut myself off. This is a great essay, especially since it was written honestly. If you're gonna write something, it should always be written with passion. Corny, I know. Anyway, I gotta get going. I'll talk to ya later. Nicely written. Bye! |
ku 12/18/03 . chapter 1This is a lot more mature and understand than your 9/11 piece. The 9/11 piece seemed a little hateful and the "God bless America" and "great nation" bits kind of made it seem like you have a bias to the nation. In this View of the World essay you talk about the human race as being unified, undivided by physical characteristics like skin color. The human race should also be undivided by national borders. This world is not made up of countries but made up of individuals. |
Mista Mugs 9/11/03 . chapter 1 I agree with a lot of what you say in this piece. And what I meant to say in the other review was that I had heard that only around 30 had died on 9/11/... Blarg...maybe laying off the crack pipe would help me out... Anyway... Cheers. |
Silvanus 9/10/03 . chapter 1If you're honestly waiting for some utopian paradise to come along, you might as well take a seat. The world isn't getting any better save in the insignifant and illusory aspects that most people tout, such as the standard of living. Yes, it's true; if you're reading this from your own computer, then you're one of the richest, healthiest, smartest, and most comfortable people in all of human history. But with wealth comes corruption, with health comes abuse, with intelligence comes arrogance, and with comfort comes complacency. This is just my opinion, but I think humanity is trapped in a downward spiral - and it's only going to get worse. But if you really are an optimist, then all the more power to you. |
Hayla Canter 9/10/03 . chapter 1 Good essay. I agree with pretty much every thing you wrote. I especialy agree with the paragraphs dealing with war and music. |
Lowell Boston 9/10/03 . chapter 1Good essay, and I'd say your views are valid, only, believe it or not the world has gone up and down in many directions over the years. It has become more violent, especially in the East and Middle East, but I believe racism overall is down. People are actually more accepting of others compared to say 15-20 years ago. Music has also changed. I agree that there's too much anger and hate in music compared to say the scenes of the 60's through the early 80's, but it has also become more commercial. Because of this muscians and the record labels market angry music because they know it sells. For myself I don't listen to the miusic I don't like (which essentialy means I haven't really listened to the radio, or MTV for about 15 years). In this country you do have the power to effect the world you live in. It's not easy, but with dedication you can do it. For example, you just did with this essay you posted. Lowell |
Gleechumber 9/10/03 . chapter 1I agree with pretty much everything you've said, especially the paragraph about music. Sometimes it makes me so sad and angry that there is so much hurting and hatred in the world, especially when I can't do anything to help. |
