Just as the first bit had me wondering how we can know all this if the narrator dies, we see it's a dream, of course.

Samantha has a very understanding boss. Why is he mellowing out? Does he know she's been under a lot of pressure lately?

It would be better to work in some mention of the fact that Alicia paints before you begin describing something cold and wet and red on the floor... because the very first thing those words suggest, especially in a piece with this ominous a feel to it, IS blood!

You're doing italics right for html, as far as I can see. I use WordPerfect, select the words, hit the Italics button and then copy 'n paste.
