Wow. I can see why the people in your class were shocked. Most people are never that open or honest with a bunch of strangers. But good work though, very powerful writing. I read you bio, and I have to say, it's good to see another Aussie author on this site. I live in Queensland as well, and am doing my QCS this year, so right now I'm off to read what you wrote! If it's as good as this maybe I can learn something from it.

This poem makes me wish I still played a musical instrument. I like the rhythm of "I smile and nod but my friends don't see the signs / I smile and nod but inside I cry" - seems to flow together nicely.

This is good - very effective.
